It is a beautiful place with plenty of history: at I Colli estate Bishop Achille Sergardi hosted the embassy of Emperor Carlo V (Holy Roman Empire – XVI century) to negotiate a peace settlement for the city of Siena. The land of this estate stands out for the presence of a particular calcareous stone (a sedimentary rock mainly composed of calcium carbonate). Known as “Il Giallo di Siena”, it is famous all over the world for the precious yellow marble that derives from it. On I Colli’s land, sangiovese manifests its different expressions through the vineyards of the three denominations: Chianti Classico (Vagliagli area), Chianti Colli Senesi and Chianti (Monteriggioni area).
The authenticity of the wines underlines their home territory and the various microclimates that give sangiovese both character and distinctiveness.
